Conte Middle School in North Adams will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 3, & Thursday, December 4, as the investigation into a mercury spill continues.

The North Adams School Committee this evening at 7 will be held in the City Council chambers.

Pittsfield Voters Asked to Pick Mayoral Candidates

PITTSFIELD - Voters will head to the polls Tuesday, Sept. 25, for a primary election to choose two mayoral candidates who will face off in the general election on Nov. 6. Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Mayor James M. Ruberto is running against Donna Walto and Stephen Fillio for a third two-year term. Ruberto faced off against two challengers in a 2005 runoff, garnering some 65 percent of the vote before going on to win re-election.

Schools will be closed in Pittsfield because some of the polling stations are in the schools.

Ward 1, Precinct A: Reid Middle School, 950 North St.

Ward 1, Precinct B: Reid Middle School, 950 North St.

Ward 2, Precinct A: Morningside Community School, 100 Burbank St.

Ward 2, Precinct B: Somerset Fire Station, Somerset Ave.

Ward 3, Precinct A: Providence Court, 379 East St.
