The Berkshire Hills Chorus presents “A Cappella Showcase”

- October 17, 2007

The Berkshire Hills Chorus presents “A Cappella Showcase”, sponsored by Greylock Federal Credit Union and Pittsfield Cooperative Bank, on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at The Colonial Theater, 111 South Street, Pittsfield at 7:00 p.m. This show will be a musical of contemporary song favorites sung in barbershop style.

The Berkshire Hills Chorus was founded in Pittsfield in 1969. It is a member of Sweet Adelines International, a worldwide organization of women singers committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education and performance.

Special guests appearing this night are “Alacazam” and Harvard University’s “Din & Tonics”. “Alacazam” is the 2007 North Atlantic Region 1 Quartet Champion. Because of this award, “Alacazam” is representing Region #1 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada at the Sweet Adeline's International Convention. The “Din & Tonics” perform a repertoire centered on the American jazz standards of the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s. These 12 Harvard gentlemen perform in white tie, tails, and lime green socks and have an enviable reputation for their impeccable musicality, snappy choreography, and hilarious antics. The Berkshire Hills Chorus quartet “Who Knew?” will also be featured.

Ticket prices for “A Cappella Showcase” are from $15-$25. For ticket sales, contact The Colonial Theater at 413-997-4444 or see www.thecolonialtheater.org A portion of the proceeds from each Berkshire Hills Chorus Annual Show is given to charity. This year’s participating charity is the Gladys Allen Brigham Community Center.
