“Speed Dating”-Style Packaging Meetings to Follow Packaging Trends to Extend Your Season will be discussed Nov. 27 at the Berkshire Visitors Bureau’s monthly Tourism Tuesday noon luncheon at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Maureen O'Hanlon, a senior partner of the Prism Partnership, will explore current packaging trends, apply bureau research to suggest regional packaging possibilities and help attendees find partners to work with in creating off season travel packages. After O’Hanlon’s presentation, members will gather for one-on-one packaging meetings in a “speed dating” format. Participants will rotate through a series of three-minute meetings to consider the off-season package possibilities they can create with other businesses and organizations. The Prism Partnership, based in Boston, is a marketing, research, technology and business strategy consulting firm for the hospitality industry. A 25-year travel and hospitality industry veteran and a Berkshire resident, O’Hanlon was formerly senior vice president of sales and marketing for Prime Hospitality, Fairfield, NJ. Earlier she was senior vice president of the Loyalty Division of Carlson Marketing, a global marketing services agency, and before that was vice president of worldwide marketing and sales for Radisson Hotels. O’Hanlon is immediate past board chairman for Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) and vice chair of the HSMAI Foundation. She was named one of the most powerful women in America’s travel industry by Travel Agent magazine and one of the 25 most influential industry executives by Tour & Travel News. Lunch is a buffet with dessert, and the cost is $18 for members and $22 for nonmembers. The Nov. 27 program will be extended to 1:30 p.m. to allow members time to meet. Striking Out Cancer in Berkshires Holds Sunday Party Before June 27 Games

By Stephen DravisiBerkshires.com Sports
PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Striking out Cancer in the Berkshires has been bringing smiles for half a decade.

This year, it also is bringing Smiley.

A day of community baseball and softball games that act as a fund-raiser for the Jimmy Fund is the brainchild of Joe DiCicco, who has expanded the event’s footprint over the years and seen a steady growth in money raised as a result.

This year’s games are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on June 27 on Buddy Pellerin Field at Clapp Park.

But the festivities begin this Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Sideline Saloon on Fenn Street, where DiCicco invites families to come down, free of charge, to take photos with a Boston Red Sox World Series Trophy and meet Boston mascot Wally the Green Monster and Smiley, the mascot of the Triple-A Worcester Red Sox.

“It’s just a little way to give back to the community to start the week,” DiCicco said. “Last year, we had the trophy for the first time, and they want to bring it back, so that’s a good thing. Wally is different, and so is Smiley.”

What has not changed is DiCicco’s dedication to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s Jimmy Fund, inspired by Einar Gustafson, a child who beat cancer with the help of Dr. Sidney Farber in 1948 and shared his story with the world under the name Jimmy to protect his anonymity.
