WGBY Announces Nature Photo Contest - November 14, 2007
SPRINGFIELD - For 25 years, the award-winning PBS series "Nature" has been the benchmark of natural history programs on television, providing inspiration for the exploration of our natural world, from the African plains to the Antarctic ice. In that spirit, WGBY is holding the "WGBY Wild About Nature" photo contest.
Open to all ages, any photo with a connection to the natural world will be exhibited locally with prizes awarded in each of four categories: youth, junior photographer, amateur and pro.
"For more than a quarter-century, 'Nature' has reminded us of the importance and beauty of our natural world. The 'Wild About Nature' photo contest embodies the spirit of the award-winning series by celebrating our natural surroundings. And since it's open to all ages, it's great way for local
families to spend time together exploring their own back yards and beyond," said Heather Lavigne, WGBY's director of education and outreach "Whether the photos are from Agawam or Alaska, we're looking forward to sharing the talent of our local shutterbugs."
Entries will be accepted through March 1, 2008, and exhibited in the spring 2008. Winners will be announced and prizes awarded at a special Wild About Nature gala in April. Multiple entries are encouraged.
Information on contest guidelines, rules and entry forms can be found at www.wgby.org/nature.
The contest is made possible through a grant from the Corp. for Public Broadcasting.
WGBY is a non-profit organization with more than 80 percent of its revenue provided by local sources. |
