Jiminy Peak Opens for Skiing - November 16, 2007
 | | Jiminy on opening day 2006. | NEW ASHFORD - Jiminy Peak opens for the skiing season on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 9 a.m.
Resort officials said snowmakers, groomers, ticket sellers and everyone else will be ready to welcome skiers and riders to the first day of the season.
Opening first, will be the Novice/180 and the lower mountain. The Berkshire Express to the upper mountain should be open by mid-morning allowing visitors to ski from top to bottom.
Some trials will have limited width and base as the resort continues to build the snow pack. Snowmaking will resume Saturday night and throughout the week.
On Saturday morning, the ski resort was reporting loose granular, packed powder with average base depths of 2 to 12 inches. Some 1.5 miles of groomed trails were open.
Novice chairlift passes are $15. To access the upper mountain via the Berkshire Express, the lift ticket is $35.
Operating hours will be 9 to 4 on both Saturday and Sunday.
