Expectant Parents' Course Offered - December 17, 2007
NORTH ADAMS - The Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice of Northern Berkshire will offer its expectant parents' class beginning Wednesday, Jan. 9, to Wednesday, Feb. 20, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. each Wednesday.
The classes will be held at the VNA & Hospice community room at 535 Curran Highway.
Course instructors are Stephanie Vidmosko, a registered nurse at the NARH Birthing Center, and Colette Baran, a certified Lamaze instructor.
Registration is required. For more information or to register: 413-664-5127.
The expectant parents classes will cover topics including growth and development of the fetus, labor and delivery, breathing and relaxation, breast-feeding with a lactation consultant, complications of pregnancy, care of the newborn, postpartum adjustments and a tour of the new Birthing Center at NARH.
The classes will also provide the child-bearing couple with the knowledge and skills they need to cope with the stress of pregnancy, labor, and birth.
"Parents who have completed the expectant parents classes find that they are more prepared for labor and delivery," said Vidmosko. "This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about what to expect during childbirth and learn about options for pain control. Preparation of this kind can also help avoid complications during pregnancy." |
