Berkshire Young Professionals Host Forum for Berkshire Community College Students - February 01, 2008
Pittsfield – The Berkshire Young Professionals (BYP), a group organized by the Berkshire Chamber of Commerce will host a forum on Tuesday, March 4, from 12:15 PM to 1:15 PM at Berkshire Community College’s (BCC) auditorium, to help connect BCC students with local young professionals and to have a conversation about their experiences of living and working in the Berkshires.
The event is free and open to the public.
Berkshire Young Professionals (BYP) consists of individuals who have returned to the County after attending colleges elsewhere, as well as other members who returned to the Berkshires for employment and lifestyle opportunities. The group will speak to students about their personal experiences and inform students about opportunities that could be available to them upon graduation from BCC.
“Berkshire Community College is pleased to be working with the Berkshire Chamber’s Young Professional group,” stated William Mulholland, dean of lifelong learning and workforce development. “We feel that BCC’s student will be excited and inspired by the group’s real-life testimonials.”
This event is sponsored by the Compact subcommittee charged with developing a new “social contract” among employers, employees and educational institutions. The subcommittee aims to encourage younger residents to be part of a well-prepared and well-educated workforce for the County. Future sessions are being planned for other areas throughout the County.
BYP was created to address the challenge of forming connections and to serve as the foundation on which young professionals build their careers, friendships and community. BYP events range from Leadership Roundtable discussions with local business and civic leaders about their tips and strategies for career and leadership development to networking social events at area venues. |
