Valerie Fanarjian exhibits her work at Simon's Rock - February 01, 2008
GREAT BARRINGTON - Artist Valerie Fanarjian has recently opened an exhibit at the Atrium Gallery in the Alumni Library at Simon’s Rock. The show will run from through Feb. 22 and is open daily from 8:30 a.m. until midnight. The artist’s talk and reception will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 5:30 p.m. Valerie Fanarjian grew up in Beirut. She studied printmaking in Urbino, Italy, and painting at the Woodstock School of Art and other schools. The show, Left Behind, comes after years of collecting objects and being influenced by what she calls the “physicality of things.”
The pieces on display are sewn assemblages and ephemera on paper. Though she has studied at various art institutions, she attributes her current work to skills she learned in papermaking and bookbinding \at the Women’s Studio Workshop in Rosendale, NY. |
