More Snow
The Berkshires received several inches of snow this morning, but not enough to close schools, unlike yesterday's sleety mess. Temperatures will drop into the 20s this afternoon. A few more snow showers are expected through the weekend. |

'The Business of Art' to be topic of free lecture at MCLA Gallery 51 - February 04, 2008
NORTH ADAMS - Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts’ Berkshire Cultural Resource Center (BCRC) and Northern Berkshire Creative Arts (NBCA) will continue its co-sponsored “Tricks of the Trade: Talks for Artists” on Thursday, Feb. 7, 6-8 p.m., at MCLA Gallery 51.
The lecture, “The Business of Art,” is free and open to the public with pre-registration.
“The Business of Art” will address taxes and administrating the business of art, which are often last on the list of concerns for the visual artist, according to Veronica Bosley, program coordinator of the BCRC. Understanding the tax code is necessary to take art from a hobby to a business, since artists benefit from a number of deductions.
MCLA Gallery 51 is open daily, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, 413-664-8718, or go to www.mcla.edu/Gallery51 To pre-register, please call Bosley at: 413-663-5253. For more information on the BCRC, go to www.mcla.edu/bcrc. For more information about the NBCA, go to www.nbcreativearts.org |
