Capitol Steps comes to the Mahaiwe

- February 06, 2008

Capitol Steps comes to the Mahaiwe on Sunday, February 17 at 3pm with political satire at its best! Since they began, the Capitol Steps have recorded 27 albums, including their latest, Springtime For Liberals. They've been featured on NBC, CBS, ABC, and PBS, and can be heard 4 times a year on National Public Radio stations nationwide during their Politics Takes a Holiday radio specials. All Tickets Reserved Seating: $40/$35 Mahaiwe Members. Purchase your tickets today through the Mahaiwe Box Office: 413-528-0100. Visit us online at www.mahaiwe.org

The group began as Senate staffers who set out to satirize the very people and places that employed them. In the years that followed, many of the Steps ignored the conventional wisdom ("Don't quit your day job!"). Although not all of the current members of the Steps are former Capitol Hill staffers, taken together the performers have worked in a total of 18 Congressional offices and represent 62 years of collective House and Senate staff experience. They've performed for 5 U.S. Presidents (6 if you include Hillary.) Since 1981, they have recorded 27 albums consisting primarily of song parodies.
