Humane Society Sets Annual South County Benefit - February 12, 2008
PITTSFIELD - The Berkshire Humane Society's annual South County Lasagna Dinner & Raffles will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 27, from 5 to 8 p.m. in Crissey Farm's new banquet hall at the Jenifer House Commons, 426 Stockbridge Road, Great Barrington.
Both meat and vegetarian lasagna will be served. The cost is $10 for adults and $6 for children under 12.
There will be a 50/50 raffle and selective raffles throughout the event with many items donated by local businesses. Once again, the Barrington Brewery will donate all proceeds from the lasagna dinner to the Berkshire Humane Society animal shelter.
Helping animals and people since 1992, the Humane Society offers free educational programs for area schoolchildren and a pet-food bank for economically distressed pet owners, and works with the Elizabeth Freeman Center to provide foster-care assistance for the pets of women in crisis.
BHS receives no public funding and relies on memberships and donations to continue to help animals and people. In 2007, BHS placed 784 homeless animals into forever homes. The shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday 10 to 4, Thursday evenings 5to 8, and Sundays 1 to 4. The shelter closes at noon on the last Wednesday of each month for staff meetings.
