NARH Offers Childbirth Course - February 22, 2008
NORTH ADAMS - North Adams Regional Hospital will offer its expectant parents class beginning Wednesday, March 5, and continuing each Wednesday through April 16, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The classes will be held in Clark House at the hospital.
Course instructors are Stephanie Vidmosko, a registered nurse at the NARH Birthing Center, and Colette Baran, a certified Lamaze instructor.
Advance registration is required. For more information or to register, call the Birthing Center at 413-664-5127.
The classes will cover topics including growth and development of the fetus, labor and delivery, breathing and relaxation, breast-feeding with a lactation consultant, complications of pregnancy, care of the newborn, postpartum adjustments and a tour of the new center. The goal of the course is to provide the couple with the knowledge and skills they need to cope with the stress of pregnancy, labor and birth.
"Parents who have completed the expectant parents classes find that they are more prepared for labor and delivery," said Vidmosko. "This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about what to expect during childbirth and learn about options for pain control. Preparation of this kind can also help avoid complications during pregnancy." |
