Berkshire Writers Room Seeks New Members - March 18, 2008
PITTSFIELD — The Berkshire Writers Room membership campaign runs from Monday, March 17, through Friday April 18, to encourage the published and unpublished, the experienced and the inexperienced to become a part of the group.
"I retired two years ago and had a great need to get in touch with the me I'd left behind during my 30-plus years of teaching school, raising a family and doing the balancing act we do to keep our various roles in order," said member Victoria Passier. "I wanted to write. Elliott Thaul, already a member, recommended The Berkshire Writers Room.
"The first group I attended was the poetry group held at Wild Sage on North Street. My experience was so fulfilling I promptly joined the Berkshire Writers Room that evening."
The Berkshire Writers Room publishes a newsletter; the editor keeps in touch with BWR members through frequent e-mails.
Passier said one e-mail was a call for writers to submit freelance work to The Advocate, a local weekly newspaper. She followed up on that call and wrote for the paper on a fairly regular basis.
For more information on the Berkshire Writers Room, call 413-236-2191 for a brochure with a complimentary newsletter. Those interested can attend two meeting free before joining. For meeting places and times e-mail smack@berkshirecc.edu. |
