The Berkshires received several inches of snow this morning, but not enough to close schools, unlike yesterday's sleety mess. Temperatures will drop into the 20s this afternoon. A few more snow showers are expected through the weekend. |

North Adams Regional Hospital went smoke-free Monday — so did all its sister sites, from Sweet Brook to Northern Berkshire Family Practice to the Women's Exchange. No ashtrays, no smoking: No butts about it. |
 Wanted: Eagle Eyes MassWildlife's annual eagle count runs Dec. 31 to Jan. 14. Anyone sighting one of the regal birds in Massachusetts is asked to participate.

Berkshire Writers Room Author, Charles Kittle, At Barnes & Noble - April 08, 2008
Charles Kittle, a member of The Berkshire Writers Room will be featured at Barnes & Noble for a reading and book signing of his most recently published novel, Bitter Diamonds on Friday, April 11, 7-9PM The mystery finds a trio of young people, led by Gary Chambers, recently release from the Armed Services and looking for adventure.
They embark upon a summer excursion and hope to find diamonds by retracing historical treks of early twentieth century treasure hunters. The adventure begins when unexplained attacks, a fire and more follow the trio throughout their trek. Duplicity, an outside agent, suspense and more before reaching a wild and crazy climax that no one could ever guess.
Charles Kittle concluded as engineering manager at Crane & Co. Inc.in 1996. After retiring, he revived a dormant interest in writing and now writes mostly during the winter months. He has one novel published, Northern Perceptions, (PublishAmerica), and one short story in Aim Magazine. He has been a member of The Berkshire Writer’s Room for seven years. |
