Recording For The Blind & Dyslexic’s Annual Record-A-Thon

- April 25, 2008

Lenox — The Berkshire Chapter of Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic® (RFB&D®) is holding the annual Record-A-Thon, a once-a-year, week-long event aimed at increasing awareness of RFB&D’s work providing and promote the effective use of accessible educational materials for students with print disabilities. In addition, the celebration substantially increases audiobook production during the Record-A-Thon week while also providing an open-house opportunity for RFB&D volunteers, staff, and members of the community to work together in our studios to achieve a “stretch” recording goal to benefit our members.

Takes Place May 5 – May 9, 2008

Our goal during the week of the Record-A-Thon is to fill every recording booth, every day from 9 a.m. to 5p.m. Guest readers will join with regular volunteers to produce an increased number of audiobooks during the celebration week. New volunteer will receive ample training in the recording process and staff support.

Volunteer are asked to donate an hour or two. For more information, please call our Production Director, Jeff Owens, at (413) 458-3641. Jeff  will be pleased to discuss our Record-A-Thon in greater detail.

About Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic:

RFB&D serves more than 185,000 students nationwide, and 10,713 in Massachusetts, from kindergarten through graduate school and beyond with its one-of-a-kind audiobook library of educational titles. RFB&D's AudioPlus® digitally recorded textbooks on CD provide unprecedented navigation, ease of use and proven effectiveness as learning tools for students with print disabilities. Students rely on RFB&D’s unique accommodation to access the printed page and to achieve educational success. All of RFB&D’s accessible titles are recorded by volunteers working in 29 RFB&D recording studios nationwide, including Lenox and Williamstown, MA.

We invite the general public to stop by our studios to see what we do and to learn why our work is so important to students with print disabilities.
