More Snow
The Berkshires received several inches of snow this morning, but not enough to close schools, unlike yesterday's sleety mess. Temperatures will drop into the 20s this afternoon. A few more snow showers are expected through the weekend.
We have reports that the roads are very slippery to take care in the evening commute. |

Williams College Junior Recital: Augusta Caso, soprano - April 28, 2008
WILLIAMSTOWN - The Williams College Department of Music will present a Junior Recital featuring Augusta Caso '09, soprano on Sunday, May 11, at 3 p.m. in Brooks-Rogers Recital Hall. This free event is open to the public.
Caso will be singing Poulenc’s Deux poèmes de Louis Aragon, Handel’s “Pinagero, la sorte mia” from Giulio Cesare in Egitto, selections from Schumann’s Frauenleibe und -leben, Mozart’s “Deh vieni, no tardar” from Le Nozze di Figaro, and selections from Copland’s Twelve Poems of Emily Dickinson. She will be accompanied by Ed Wichiencharoen ‘09 and Eric Kang ‘09 on the piano.
Augusta Caso, initially from Phoenix, Maryland, is currently a junior at Williams College and is majoring in music. Before coming to Williams, she sang with the Peabody Children's Chorus for eight years, in numerous school choirs, and with the Maryland All-Sate Chorus for four years. Since coming to Williams, where she studies with Marlene Walt, classical solo vocal performance (and, hopefully one day soon, opera) has quickly become her passion and her primary concentration. Augusta also sings in both the Concert and Chamber Choirs, played "Johanna" in the recent Cap 'n Bells production of Sweeney Todd, and has had the opportunity to perform with various other ensembles on campus. She very much enjoys conducting and arranging, and was previously a member and music director of Ephoria, one of William's all-female a cappella groups. Her other interests include languages and travel, reading, creative activities, yoga and running. This summer, Augusta is excited to spend five weeks in Germany studying at the Neil Semer Vocal Institute. She hopes to go on to graduate school in vocal performance after Williams.

Richard McDowell began singing at age 10 after being dragooned into the middle school choir by his music teacher. He has since learned to sing voluntarily. Richard began his classical studies under G. Alan Wagner of West Chester University, and now studies with Keith Kibler. His performances at Williams include St. John’s Passion with Williamstown Early Music and the title role in Sweeney Todd. A native of Pennsylvania, Richard is currently a junior at Williams majoring in mathematics and Economics.

WILLIAMSTOWN - The Williams College Department of Music will present a Senior Recital featuring Daniel Rosensweig '08, tenor on Monday, May 12, at 2 p.m. in Chapin Hall. This free event is open to the public.

Daniel Rosensweig has been formally studying voice for 7 years. He began his musical education with piano, 16 years ago, studying classically through early high school and jazz piano for several years after, and studying both at different times at Williams. He joined his first choir 14 years ago and has sung with various vocal ensembles ever since, with 3 or more at a time for all but a semester of the last 10 years, including 3 times in the Massachusetts all-state choir. He has been vocally trained most in classical voice, but also in jazz and broadway styles, which he also loves. At Williams, Daniel sings with the concert and chamber choirs, directs the Elizabethans with Sarah Riskind, and dances with INISH and Dancing Folk. He is currently studying voice with Kerry Ryer-Parke and organ with Edwin Lawrence.
