A Talk on a Life in Art” with Artist Tommy Simpson - May 01, 2008
Tommy Simpson, prototype artist and furniture maker will be speaking at IS183 Art School on Wednesday, May 14th at 7PM. This is the first lecture for the 2008 season.
Tommy Simpson's work can be found in the collections of the Smithsonian Institution, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston and the American Craft Museum and is currently on exhibit at Ferrin Gallery, Pittsfield. As the critic Karen S. Chambers has written, “In all of Simpson’s work, there is a sensitivity to color and a playful, faux-naive approach to composition. Overall the effect is joyous and it all works whether it has to function or merely delight the eye.”
ArtTalks! lectures are held at IS183 Art School the second Wednesday of every month from May to September at 7PM. This series is sponsored by Taylor Rental and Nejaimes Wine Cellar. The ArtTalks! lecture series was launched in 2006 to create a forum where students, residents and artists in the region to be introduced to the work and ideas that are shaping contemporary art.
