SteepleCats Hoilman Named Freshman All-American - June 06, 2008
NORTH ADAMS - North Adams SteepleCats first baseman Paul Hoilman has been named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American.
Also named to the Atlantic Sun All Rookie Team, Hoilman led East Tennessee State U. in hitting at .353 and was second in homers and RBI with nine and 47 respectively. He was among the top 20 in the A-Sun in hitting and ranked in the top 10 in homers, on-base and slugging percentage.
"There is no doubt he was one of the top freshman in the country this past season. Paul is our hardest worker and best student and deserves all these accolades," said ETSU Head Coach Tony Skole. Hoilman is the first Bucanneer baseball player to receive this honor in the history of the school.
The SteepleCats will open their 2008 campaign on Friday night against the Torrington Twisters. Saturday is a Day At The Races where the 'Cats will celebrate the Sport of Kings and the running of the final jewel in the triple crown, the Belmont Stakes. Following in the tradition of the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and the Belmont, the SteepleCats will hold a "Best Fancy Hat" contest at the game. Sunday is blackout night at the ballpark, where all fans are encouraged to wear black clothing to the game. Fans dressed in all black will receive $1 off an adult ticket. |
