The Milne Public Library presents a history and culture of the Drive-In - July 02, 2008
The Milne Public Library in Williamstown presents a slide program and lecture about the drive in movie theaters and restaurants that were so popular in the 50’s on July 16 at 7 p.m.
Sit back and reminisce back seventy-five years when an American institution made its first appearance on the (really big) screen. One hundred and three years ago, an off-the-cuff idea grabbed the consumer’s attention. Together in the 1950’s the drive in movie and restaurant would peak and compliment each other to form a truly unique pair of American icons.
The history and culture of the Drive-In now on the brink of extinction will be explored. Rediscover and relive the fun, the oddities, and a lost era of the American dream with Robert Campanile’s illuminated talk.
Whether you were a “back-seater” or a “front-seater” the road to drive-in memories awaits you.
