145 Participated in Successful Server Trainings in Berkshire County - July 14, 2008
The Berkshire Youth Development Project, with direction from the Northern Berkshire Community Coalition, the Pittsfield Prevention Partnership, and the South Berkshire Youth Coalition, recently held server training sessions in three convenient locations in Berkshire County. Thanks to Bounti-Fare Restaurant, the Country Club of Pittsfield, and to the Red Lion Inn for use of their space. Thanks also to Jim Hamilton of Primerica Financial Services and Dave Nicholas from Bounti-Fare Restaurant for providing refreshments.
Dan Zunitch, a certified TIPS trainer with Business Point Systems, instructed all three sessions for both on-premise establishments (bars and restaurants) and off-premise establishments (package stores). Zunitch reacts by saying “it is wonderful to see the level of commitment to alcohol safety on the part of our local businesses. The Berkshire Youth Development Project made TIPS Training accessible to establishments and individuals who might not have otherwise been able to participate.”
The training sessions were free to attendees, made possible by the Berkshire Youth Development Project, operating with a grant from the Attorney General’s office. All liquor establishments in Berkshire County were encouraged to participate, and 145 participants from forty-seven establishments took advantage of this opportunity. Adams Police Chief, Don Poirot, contributes he “would like to thank the Berkshire Youth Development Project for providing TIPS training to local liquor license establishments. This type of training is extremely educational, and assists in prevention of illegal alcohol purchasing by minors. All establishments in the town of Adams were made aware of the training opportunity, and most were excited about the chance to attend at no cost.” In fact, Chief Poirot personally visited each of his town’s establishments to inform them of the training. The Berkshire Youth Development Project supports the owners and servers of the establishments in our area, and will continue to improve its services to better serve a healthy community! The Berkshire Youth Development Project is a collaboration of youth-serving coalitions in North, Central, and South County that works on a variety of issues to improve the environment for youth in Berkshire County.
