Four Northern Berkshire Companies to be Recognized
WILLIAMSTOWN — The Berkshire Chamber of Commerce will host a Good News Business Salute on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 sponsored by TD Banknorth. The breakfast event will be held at the Williams Inn on the Green in Williamstown from 7:45 – 9:00 AM. The cost to attend is $20 for Berkshire Chamber members and $28 for non-members and includes a breakfast buffet.
The Chamber will salute four local companies and organizations for their “good news:” H. A. George Fuel Corp, Steepleview Realty, Wave Realty, and a special community recognition for the Childcare of the Berkshires.
Joseph C. Thompson, Director of Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (Mass MoCA) will provide the keynote address to an audience of over 275 members of the Berkshire business community. Under Thompson’s leadership, MASS MoCA has become a catalyst for economic revitalization in western Massachusetts, adding over 600 jobs and $21 million per year in economic impact to the region ($14 million from the effects of the museum alone, and over $6 million in new economic activity every year flowing from the project’s commercial tenants).
James Canavan, Executive Director of Northern Berkshire United Way (NBUW), will serve as master of ceremonies. Canavan began his role with NBUW in April 2008 and brings with him management experience from organizations such as Self Help, Inc. headquartered in Brockton, MA and Community Teamwork, Inc., the anti-poverty agency for Greater Lowell.
