Bidwell House Museum to host George Minkoff
George Minkoff returns to the Bidwell House in the Author's Series on Saturday, September 20 at 4 pm to talk about part two of his novel, the Land of Whispers Trilogy. His second book, The Dragons of the Storm, is as enthralling as part one of the trilogy The Weight of Smoke. In his latest work, Minkoff continues the life and times of John Smith in the earliest days of Jamestown Colony. In this historical novel, Minkoff offers an account of Francis Drake's daring proposition to find the Northwest Passage to the Orient in order to regale Queen Elizabeth I who must counter the Spanish King Phillip's Armada.
One reviewer, J.M. Cornwell describes the Minkoff book as "a literary banquet":"... the beauty of the language shook me and the poetic rhythm of Jonas Profit's (Minkoff's "eyewitness") rendering of history came alive with a force that left me reeling, reluctant to return to a more mundane present. If only history books were written like this," he said.
The Bidwell House Museum will sponsor a wine and cheese reception in honor of author George Minkoff at the conclusion of his talk and book signing. There is a suggested donation of $10 (Members) and $15 (Non-members). For more information, call 413-528-6888.
