Why are there such short trick or treat hours? In many cases you may have to walk a bit between houses with lights on...not much time for little children to get from house to house.

Having trick or treating NOT on Halloween is just weird and anticlimactic.

Why is trick or treating not on halloween in Pittsfield? I think this is going to create confusion and a lot of disappointed kids :(

Why the "short" hours??? Because then you'd have all the mini-vans from one town driving up to my house in another town and unleashing hordes on my house after our hours are over.

The area where I grew up in PA, they'd designate 4-5:30 for elementary and earlier ages, and 5:30 til 8 for the older kids. The towns in the area did a cooperative schedule so that there would be 3 consecutive days of trick or treat each night in a different town and ending on Halloween night.

The 30th is on a Sunday, not Saturday! So is it Saturday or Sunday?

Pittsfield is on MONDAY 5 - 7. Only the parade is on Friday. If you notice the other towns that have it on a different day other than Monday, it specifies which day and it is in BOLD.

I just leave the light on until I run out of candy. I never did understand the time limit.

Come on people 5 to 7 i used to go out as a kid and trick or treat till 9 Parents send your kids out on Halloween night let them stay out till 9 and the hell with the stupid rules the town tries to put on Halloween. Stick up for our rights and go with tradition not the stupid politician.

Editor: Maybe the people handing out the candy don't want kids knocking on the door at 9. Plus, it's a school night.

Maybe they want to do away with Halloween.I wouldn't be shock at all if the towns didn't allow trick or treating

The City of Pittsfield website claims that trick or treat starts at 5:30 and not 5:00. Does anyone know the correct time??

Editor: We'll call and check. City Hall gave us a time of 5-7 a few weeks ago. Update Tuesday, Oct. 19: the Pittsfield website has a time of 5-7.

Hours should be extended for rick or treating. After all it is for "KIDS".Walking with a 3 and 4 year old is slow and a stroller makes it even slower!Plus the amount of houses actually handing out candy is few and far between sometimes. It is not the point of getting the most candy but the fun kids have doing it but at the same times kids like to fill a plastic bucket at least. It is sad a kids gets home and says "Mommy I didn't get much for all that walking".One and a half hours out in rain and cold for less than a store bag of candy. We might be better off buying a few bags and staying home and making a party instead!Very sad so I hope they extend hours.

Get over it! Be Happy they still have Trick or treat!! Does it really matter how many houses your kid gets to go to two hours of free candy should be enough!!

Is this a joke? Trick-or-treating isn't something that is scheduled by municipal government. It is a national tradition. Where I live, trick-or-treating typically lasts until 9 PM. Oh, and by the way, Halloween is on October 31st. I feel bad for the children who live in this region with such crusty adults.

i dont understand why they have limits for trick or treating hours.its dumb and its very hard when u have to watch over little kids. it's not something the govenment should be able to control because it's a national traditon.
from: BooGhoul | on: 10-31-2011 01:35PM I Agree (2) - I Disagree (1) |
Editor: OMG, they're not going to arrest you if you continue to trick-or-treat! This is to let residents know when they expect the kids to be around. I don't know why anyone would be dragging their kids around at 9 on a school night to beg for candy. And if you can't get around your neighborhood in an hour or so, you're going way far afield.

Cheshire was at 5:30, not 5pm. Had the kids all ready, then drove by the fire station where the hours were posted. Had to wait for 30 minutes.

Cost, Access to NBCTC High Among Concerns North Berkshire Residents
By Tammy DanielsiBerkshires Staff
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Public access channels should be supported and made more available to the public — and not be subject to a charge.
More than three dozen community members in-person and online attended the public hearing Wednesday on public access and service from Spectrum/Charter Communications. The session at City Hall was held for residents in Adams, Cheshire, Clarksburg and North Adams to express their concerns to Spectrum ahead of another 10-year contract that starts in October.
Listening via Zoom but not speaking was Jennifer Young, director state government affairs at Charter.
One speaker after another conveyed how critical local access television is to the community and emphasized the need for affordable and reliable services, particularly for vulnerable populations like the elderly.
"I don't know if everybody else feels the same way but they have a monopoly," said Clarksburg resident David Emery. "They control everything we do because there's nobody else to go to. You're stuck with with them."
Public access television, like the 30-year-old Northern Berkshire Community Television, is funded by cable television companies through franchise fees, member fees, grants and contributions.
Spectrum is the only cable provider in the region and while residents can shift to satellite providers or streaming, Northern Berkshire Community Television is not available on those alternatives and they may not be easy for some to navigate. For instance, the Spectrum app is available on smart televisions but it doesn't include PEG, the public, educational and governmental channels provided by NBCTC.
