NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – MCLA picked up a non-conference 76-43 win over visiting Lyndon State College. MASCAC Player of the Week, Laura Silverman (Ballston Lake, NY) earned her fourth double-double of the season pulling down 14 rebounds and scoring twelve points. Lyndon's Naomi White (Danville, VT) also collected a double-double on the night with ten points and twelve rebounds, but it wasn't enough as the Trailblazers cruised to their fourth win of the early season.
The first half started off tight, but then in the 11th minute of the game Molly Broda (Southampton, MA) re-entered and immediately dropped seven of her eleven first half points. It was the spark MCLA needed to increase their lead 44-23 at the break. Senior forward, Jackie Wetzel (Braintree, MA) scored eight points in the half for the Hornets.
In the second half, the Trailblazers increased their lead to at times a 29-point margin. Broda was quite in the second half but Hillary Perks (Saugerties, NY) and Jen Wehner (Cooperstown, NY) stepped up their second half points production and both finished in double figures with 13 and 15 respectively. Jade Prickett (Westhampton, MA) pulled down 11 rebounds in the game to help Silverman and the Trailblazers out rebound the Hornets 53-32. Even in their two loses, MCLA has held the rebound margin in all six of their games so far this season, a stat that is sure to please Coach McGovern.
Lyndon State College (3-3) will take a week off and will be back in action at home next Thursday when they will host Plymouth State University.
