Lenox, Mass. - The Lenox Library will present the fourth program in its 2008-09 Distinguished Lecture Series with a lecture and slide show by international artist and Williams College Professor of Art Mike Glier on Sunday, January 18th, at 4:00 pm at the Lenox Library.
In “Along a Long Line” professor Glier will discuss and illustrate his extensive travels and work including a recent three part painting project that involves the interplay between art and geography. For one segment entitled “Longitude” he traveled along the 70th line of longitude to four locations between the Arctic Circle and the Equator to paint the changes of region.
Mike Glier has had numerous shows throughout the country, including solo exhibitions in New York, Washington, Chicago and California as well as Germany and the Netherlands. His permanent installations can be found in Leipzig, Germany and in Cambridge, Massachusetts and North Adams. His fellowships include the Guggenheim Foundation; The Royal Society of the Arts, London and the Liguria Study Center for the Arts and Humanity in Bogliosco, Italy.

February 15, 2009 “My Latest Novel – I’m Serious This Time” by Daniel Klein, co-author of the international bestseller, Plato and a Platypus Walk into a Bar: Understanding Philosophy through Jokes.
March 15, 2009 a panel discussion on “Women In The Arts” including Tina Packer of Shakespeare & Company; Julianne Boyd of Barrington Stage Company; Kate Maguire of Berkshire Theatre Festival and Tracy Wilson of Berkshire Music School. |
