School Reading Program Ends with 'Snapshot of North Adams'

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The North Adams Reads Committee will hosting "A Snapshot of North Adams," the culminating event to this school year's Building Community Through Local History and the Arts program.

The communitywide event will be held on Tuesday, April 14, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the Brayton School cafeteria.

The evening will celebrate the rich history of North Adams. The North Adams Reads lending kit and many old city photos will be on display. Local historians and authors will available to share some of their knowledge.

Guests will include a volunteer from the North Adams Historical Society's  Museum of History and Science, Robert Campanile from the Western Gateway Heritage State Park Visitors Center Museum and author of "Images of America North Adams," and Joe Manning, author of "Steeples" and "Disappearing into North Adams."


The project has been supported by a grant from the James and Robert Hardman Fund for North Adams and the Gateway Fund, both funds of the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation.

It is free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to bring photos or other North Adams memorabilia to share as well.

Mystic, Conn., Rolls Past SteepleCats

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Camden Righi went 3-for-5 with a double Tuesday to lead the Mystic Schooners (5-1) to a 12-2 win over the North Adams SteepleCats in New England Collegiate Baseball action at Joe Wolfe Field.
 
Parker Camelo was 2-for-3 at the plate for North Adams, which scored both its runs in the bottom of the ninth.
 
North Adams used six pitchers in the loss. James Morr and Joe LaPrade each provided an inning of no-hit relief.
 
The SteepleCats (0-3) are at Martha's Vineyard on Wednesday night.
