Berkshire Music School’s “Cabaret-To-Go” Goes To Card Lake Inn11:28AM / Tuesday, April 28, 2009
WEST STOCKBRIDGE - The ever popular BMS “Cabaret-To-Go” travels to the West Stockbridge Card Lake Inn for the first time Tuesday, May 12. Doors open for dinner and beverages from the menu at 6 pm. The show begins at 7:30 pm. A $10 cover charge benefits the School.
This is the final performance of the advanced Cabaret class at BMS, led by Sherri James Buxton, with Bob Shepherd on piano. Performers include: Kelly Cain, Jeff Cook, Jackie Dolan, Katie Johnson, Marvin Shapiro, and Steve Skoblow. Reservations are required: 413-442-1411. Card Lake Inn is located at 29 Main Street.
Cabaret workshops will be offered at the School this summer. Cabaret For Adults will take place Friday and Saturday, July 17 and 18 from 10 am - 4 pm. Singers of various levels of performance experience will learn about stage presence, phrasing, style and microphone techniques. Individual and group instruction will be provided by teacher and professional singer Sherri James Buxton, and accompanist Bob Shepherd. This is a class of self-discovery and process. The fee is $220, with a limit of 8 students. A Cabaret Master Class is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, August 14 and15 from 10 am - 4 pm.
The class features in depth study of interpretation and improvisation for singers with performance experience. Singers will work on their individual performances as they examine lyrics and specific moments and changes within the story, in the process of making the song their own. They will explore jazz improvisation and work with a combo (piano and bass). Prerequisites: must pass a vocal audition or be a former member of “Cabaret-To-Go”. The fee is $250, with a limit of 6 students. Early registration is encouraged. To register call 413.442.1411. |
