Boxcar VP to Speak on Managing Virtual Businesses

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Rob Adams, vice president of sales and marketing for Boxcar Media Inc., will deliver this week's Brown Bag workshop on Wednesday, May 6.

The lunchtime series is sponsored by the Berkshire Chamber of Commerce and are designed to help area business owners. The Berkshire Chamber has enlisted the help of experts in the region to provide 60-minute sessions on topics including communication, financial planning, marketing, management, and the use of social media.

Adams' talk on "The Reality of Your Virtual Business" will include strategies for effectively managing virtual employees and customers in today's technology-driven office and marketplace. Boxcar Media is the parent company of iBerkshires.com, Agency BCM and Raceway Media, which includes the international classified racing car site RacingJunk.com. Boxcar is headquartered on Main Street in North Adams.
 
The workshop will be held in the fourth-floor conference room at Hoosac Bank, 93 Main Street, from noon to 1; attendees are invited to bring along a brown-bagged lunch.


Brown Bag Series workshops are free to chamber members. While nonmembers are typically charged $10 per person to attend, Hoosac Bank will cover the cost of anyone who wishes to attend as a way to support area businesses.

This series will run through May 13. The last workshop is "'NET'working: Building Your Business Through Social Media" presented by the chamber's own Christina Barrett on Wednesday, May 13.

Mystic, Conn., Rolls Past SteepleCats

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Camden Righi went 3-for-5 with a double Tuesday to lead the Mystic Schooners (5-1) to a 12-2 win over the North Adams SteepleCats in New England Collegiate Baseball action at Joe Wolfe Field.
 
Parker Camelo was 2-for-3 at the plate for North Adams, which scored both its runs in the bottom of the ninth.
 
North Adams used six pitchers in the loss. James Morr and Joe LaPrade each provided an inning of no-hit relief.
 
The SteepleCats (0-3) are at Martha's Vineyard on Wednesday night.
