Marty Lasker lecture “Nature versus Nurture”03:17PM / Wednesday, June 17, 2009
BECKET, Mass. - All area residents are invited to attend the FREE Marty Lasker lecture “Nature versus Nurture” at the Becket Arts Center on Monday, July 6 at 7:30 p.m. A panel of experts will share their views on talent and its many interpretations. Is the visual artist born with the imaginative use of the paintbrush?
Has the individual who is a noteworthy musician attained his goal solely through study and practice? Does the choreographer receive his inspiration from within, or from countless hours of studies in movement? Marjorie Fuller, retired college voice professor, will moderate a provocative discussion of these and other questions.
Panel participants will include: Byam Stevens, Artistic Director of Chester Theatre Company; David Anderegg, PhD, clinical and developmental psychologist; Tracy Wilson, Executive Director, Berkshire Music School; and Barbara Barron, Fiber Artist.
This is the first lecture for the 2009 Marty Lasker Lecture Series. Successive programs will be held Monday evenings during July and August. All programs are free and will be held in the air-conditioned Philip Barber Gallery (upstairs gallery) at the Becket Arts Center. Seating for all presentations is on a first-come, first-served basis. Refreshments are available following each lecture. |
