LA MESA" to open at NAACO Gallery

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - “La Mesa” (The Table) is a month-long exhibition focusing on traditional and nontraditional artworks for and about the table. Selected artists will include both gallery members as well as non-member artists throughout the region.

“La Mesa” will be held at the North Adams Artists’ Co-Operative Gallery (NAACO) located at 33 Main Street (corner of Main and Marshall Streets / Route 8) and runs from July 29 through August 23, with an opening reception on Thursday, July 30, 2009, beginning at 6 PM.

The NAACO Gallery is an independent, member-run organization of 35 active, regional artists exhibiting works in the fields of fine and applied arts. Back in a new location for a second year after a successful 2008 season, NAACO is part of the larger city wide "Downstreet Art Project" a public art project of MCLA's Berkshire Cultural Resource Center which features 27 galleries, museums, and other arts destinations in the city.

The NAACO gallery is in operation through October 18th, Wednesdays through Saturdays from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM and on Sundays from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The Gallery will also be open additional hours, which may include Mondays as well as evening hours prior to Mass MoCA events. Openings of new exhibitions take place on the final Thursdays of July, August and September, held concurrently with all other “DownStreet Art Thursday” programming.

New North Adams Restaurant Approved for Liquor License

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — A new restaurant on Main Street, a provisions shop and a convenience store all got the nod from the License Commission on Tuesday.
 
Siblings Colleen and Sean Taylor are expanding their cuisine empire yet again with the establishment of Main & Mill in the old TD Bank. They were before the commission to apply for an all-alcohol license. 
 
The building is owned by Ginko on Main Street LLC, which has granted 20 years exclusive possession of the property to Latent Builds as the developer. Jack and Suzy Wadsworth, behind Ginko, are development partners with Salvatore Perry and Karla Rothstein of Latent.
 
The bank closed in early 2021 and purchased by Ginko late that year. Plans for the property unveiled three years ago envisioned a restaurant, retail, a park and rooftop bar. 
 
The building's hosted some pop-up eateries and is currently under construction for the new restaurant. 
 
Colleen Taylor said the restaurant will be open seven days a week serving lunch and dinner, and be open early for coffee. 
 
"It's not going to be a very big restaurant. It's about the same size as Trail House, except for Trail House has a bigger patio, so about the same seating," she said.
