Berkshire United Way Honors South County Community Leaders01:40PM / Thursday, September 17, 2009
PITTSFIELD, Mass. - Berkshire United Way (BUW) will recognize Jane and Jack Fitzpatrick, their daughters, and their family of companies and employees along with Anne and Parker Oppermann at an 8:00am breakfast event on Friday, October 2, 2009, at the Egremont County Club in Great Barrington.
The Fitzpatricks will receive the J. Edward Dery Memorial Award for lifetime achievement in community giving and caring.
The Oppermanns will receive the Thomas F. Cooney Award for continuous commitment to BUW's annual campaign. The event - which will address BUW's community engagement and investment efforts in southern Berkshire County - will also showcase some BUW-funded organizations that serve South County.
BUW leads the effort to solve the most pressing problems in the Berkshires by building collaborations among businesses, non-profits, faith-based groups and the public sector. Working together, the community identifies needs, develops solutions, and invests in programs that attack root causes and deliver meaningful and measurable results - all to create sustained changes in Berkshire County. Through a series of community meetings, education and employment have been identified as top priorities.
