Red Cross To Recognize Volunteers At 114th Annual Meeting03:24PM / Thursday, September 24, 2009
PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Berkshire County Chapter of the American Red Cross will be holding its annual business meeting and recognizing more than 70 of its 650 volunteers at its 114th annual Meeting and Volunteer Recognition Awards on Tuesday, Oct. 6.
The event will take place at the Country Club of Pittsfield, 639 South St., beginning at 6. Ryan Peterson, news anchor of Channel 9 News is the guest of honor and guest speaker for the event. A reception will follow the meeting and awards.
The Berkshire County Chapter is one of the oldest Red Cross Chapters in the United States having been founded when Sen. Murray Crane, having signed the Congressional Charter for the American Red Cross, returned to the Berkshires from Washington and helped establish it.
Sally P.W. Douglas, chairman of the board of directors, will preside over the meeting. Reservations can be made by calling Margaret Apkin or Kathleen Phillips at the Red Cross at 413-442-1506, Ext. 12 and 11. Cost is $15 per person. |
