NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — A health-care forum on Friday, Oct. 9, sponsored by the Northern Berkshire Community Coalition is expected to include U.S. Rep. John W. Olver, D-Amherst.

Part of the coalition's regular two-hour monthly community meeting, the health-care section of the meeting will begin at around 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church. The meeting begins at 10 with the regular round of introductions and updates by various organizations involved in the coalition.

Olver is expected to give an update about the progress of health-insurance reform in Washington. Also attending  will be state Rep. Daniel E. Bosley, D-North Adams, Northern Berkshire Healthcare President Richard Palmisano,  Dr. William Kober, a family practice physician with NBH, and Andrea Peters, a health-care consumer.

The goal of the forum is to gain a better understanding of the challenges the health-care system is facing and that forum participants will walk away with knowledge of how health-care reform may affect the Northern Berkshire region, according to coalition Executive Director Alan Bashevkin.

Those attending will have an opportunity to ask questions about health-insurance reform as time permits.

Attending organizations are reminded to bring fliers about their announcements; they may be placed on the table in the middle of the room for others to take.
