Trailblazers Pick up Victory at Oneonta Invitational

ONEONTA, NY. - The MCLA Women's Volleyball went 1-3 over the weekend at the Oneonta State Invitational in Oneonta, NY. On Friday afternoon MCLA fell to Skidmore College in three sets, 25-14, 25-13, and 25-19. Marta Brown (Glens Falls, NY) had 18 assists and Amanda Lane (Swansea,) had 11 digs in the loss.

In the nightcap hey matched up against Plattsburgh State and lost a heartbreaker in five games. The scores were 25-21, 13-25, 25-19, 19-25 and 18-16 in the deciding set. Brown had 28 assists and Lane had 22 digs. Christina Kidd (Glens Falls, NY) also had 22 digs while Kayla Bromback (Lee) contributed 11 kills.

The Trailblazers were up bright and early on day two with a 9:30 am start with Hunter College. The Trailblazers fell to Hunter in three games. Kidd and Tasha Berroa (Brooklyn, NY) had 6 kills in the loss.

MCLA did salvage the weekend with an impressive victory over Purchase St. MCLA won 25-13, 25-22 and 25-13. Brown had 20 assists, Lane had 16 digs and Bromback had 8 kills.

MCLA improves to 10-5 on the season and have Colby-Sawyer up next on October 9th.

New North Adams Restaurant Approved for Liquor License

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — A new restaurant on Main Street, a provisions shop and a convenience store all got the nod from the License Commission on Tuesday.
 
Siblings Colleen and Sean Taylor are expanding their cuisine empire yet again with the establishment of Main & Mill in the old TD Bank. They were before the commission to apply for an all-alcohol license. 
 
The building is owned by Ginko on Main Street LLC, which has granted 20 years exclusive possession of the property to Latent Builds as the developer. Jack and Suzy Wadsworth, behind Ginko, are development partners with Salvatore Perry and Karla Rothstein of Latent.
 
The bank closed in early 2021 and purchased by Ginko late that year. Plans for the property unveiled three years ago envisioned a restaurant, retail, a park and rooftop bar. 
 
The building's hosted some pop-up eateries and is currently under construction for the new restaurant. 
 
Colleen Taylor said the restaurant will be open seven days a week serving lunch and dinner, and be open early for coffee. 
 
"It's not going to be a very big restaurant. It's about the same size as Trail House, except for Trail House has a bigger patio, so about the same seating," she said.
