Secretary Aloisi Outlines Multiple Projects in Pittsfield
PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Mayor James M. Ruberto hosted a press conference at City Hall today for the Massachusetts Secretary of Transportation, James A. Aloisi, to outline key MassHighway construction projects that currently under construction and those planned to start in the spring of 2010 in the City of Pittsfield.
Secretary Aloisi commented that, “Mayor Ruberto’s vision for Pittsfield is outstanding, that is one of the main reasons Governor Patrick has focused millions of dollars in improvement projects in Pittsfield. I am glad to be a part of the City of Pittsfield’s future redevelopment.”
The six projects that are currently under construction are: the two Bridges on Hungerford St., South St., Routes 7 & 20, Park Square intersection, Center & West St. intersection, and the Route 8 resurfacing project. These projects are slated to be finished by the Summer of 2010 with an estimated budget of just over $9 million dollars.
“The state’s current and future investment of $25 million in Pittsfield with these 10 projects provides work for local contractors while improving transportation throughout our city,” said Mayor Ruberto.
Within the next two years, four more reconstruction projects with a total value of over $16.5 million will begin focusing on: South St. resurfacing and signal improvements, East St. reconstruction, Streetscape Phase II, and resurfacing on First St., Barker, Holmes, and Valentine Roads.
