NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer women’s volleyball team extended their winning streak to five matches with a 3-0 victory over MCLA, on Friday evening. The Chargers won by scores of 25-12, 25-12, and 25-18. With the win, the Chargers improve to 14-4 overall, while MCLA falls to 10-6 with the loss.
 
The story of the first two sets was the efficient hitting of the Chargers. Colby-Sawyer had hitting percentages of .538 and .500 in the first and second sets, respectively. The team finished with a .360 mark for the match.
 
Sophomore Kristin Sawyer (Walpole) had her best match of the season with a match-high 15 kills and hit a blistering .650. Senior Kim Shannon (Wallingford, Conn.) contributed seven kills and three blocks. Junior Stef Turner (Boxborough) hit .385 and tallied eight kills. Senior Mickey LaPan (Medway) led all players with 16 digs. Senior Megan White (Monroe, Conn.) added seven kills and seven digs for the Chargers.
 
Sophomore Kayla Bromback (Lee) led the Trailblazers with five kills and a .364 hitting percentage.  
 
Colby-Sawyer travels to Springfield College on Saturday for two matches against Plymouth State and a non-conference contest against Western New England beginning at noon. MCLA will be at Bridgewater State on Monday for a 2:00pm match.
