PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Where to Retire magazine, a publication geared to helping people with retirement relocation decisions, includes Pittsfield in its May/June issue as one of eight mountain and lake havens.
A special feature in the issue, "Ready for the Rebound: Hot Spots for Retirement Real Estate Discounts," pinpoints current bargains in places chosen by the editors from extensive research into home prices over the last decade. This is the third in a yearlong series of articles spotlighting destinations that are great for retirees and now offer unusually good buys in housing.
According to Where to Retire editor, Mary Lu Abbott, "Ready for the Rebound" sheds light on the unique opportunities for baby boomers and retirees to snap up dream retirement real estate at discounts with the record low housing prices, low interest rates and high inventory now. The eight destinations chosen by editors in the May/June 2010 issue are: Pittsfield, Petoskey, Mich., Gainesville, Ga., Hot Springs, Ark., Santa Fe, N.M., Colorado Springs, Colo., Carson City, Nev., and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
Pittsfield, Abbot said, "combines a beautiful country setting with world-class cultural venues and is a quiet retreat within easy reach of major metro areas."
According to Where to Retire, each year 700,000 Americans move to new towns to retire. |
