Legacy Banks Establishes Commercial, Industrial Banking Team

LATHAM, N.Y. — Legacy Banks has established a new commercial banking team, according to an announcement by Patrick J. Sullivan, president and CEO. The team, which will focus on expanding Legacy’s commercial and industrial lending business, is led by Senior Vice President Peter Clemente, who joined Legacy on June 28.


Wesley John

Two new appointments include Wesley John, who recently joined the bank as a vice president and Michael Quaranta, Jr. who has come on board as an assistant vice president. According to Clemente, “I have worked closely with both Wesley and Michael who have significant expertise as Business Relationship Managers. They look forward to bringing that experience to Legacy.”

John most recently was a vice president, Small Business Relationship Manager at HSBC. Prior to that, he worked at Fleet Bank and Spectron, Inc. (Eyeworld). He holds an MBA, MA and BA from The State University of New York. He has served as the President of both the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Albany County and the Global Business Network/Capital Region World Trade Center. He resides in Albany.

Quaranta has worked for the past four years as an assistant vice president, Small Business Relationship Manager with HSBC. Prior to that, he was a marketing representative with John Hancock Financial Services. He holds an associate’s degree in business administration from Hudson Valley Community College. Michael is active with the Albany Colonie Chamber of Commerce, the Business Council of New York State, and is treasurer of the Board of Directors of Schenectady County Habitat for Humanity. He also resides in Albany.

Legacy’s commercial and industrial group also includes April Volk, who has been a vice president with Legacy since 2008 and John Masten who, in addition to being a Commercial Relationship officer, works to familiarize clients with Legacy’s Online Cash Management product and remote deposit capture offerings. In commenting on the appointments, Sullivan said “I am so pleased to have this team in place as we work to expand our efforts in Commercial and Industrial Lending throughout our markets. Each of these commercial banking officers brings significant experience to their roles in developing commercial client relationships and in assisting area businesses become and remain successful.”

Bianchi-Barbarotta Foundation Holds Awards Banquet

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Bianchi-Barbarotta Foundation Friday honored outstanding contributors to the Berkshire County sports scene at its third annual Awards Dinner at the Polish Falcon Club.
 
The foundation supports youth sports throughout the county each year.
 
In 2025-26, those donations totaled more than $30,000 to groups ranging from youth football and cheerleading programs, Pittsfield Little League, Northern Berkshire Softball and the Pittsfield Boys and Girls Club Recreation Therapy Program, to name a few.
 
Funds raised by the foundation also go to support its annual Vera Barborotta Memorial Sportsman Scholarship, which this year went to Lee High School graduate Joey Abderhalden and Taconic grad Madeline Harrington.
 
Two other recently graduated high school standout athletes were recognized as winners of the Al Bianchi Memorial Athletes of the Year: Madison McCarthy and Cooper Calvert, both of Wahconah Regional High School.
 
Pittsfield High School girls basketball coach Kristy Conyers and Hoosac Valley boys basketball coach Matt Larabee received the foundation's Coach of the Year Awards.
 
John Castonguay received the Bianchi-Barbarotta Foundation Living Legend Award. A.J. Ziter took home the Connie Bianchi Memorial Award of Merit. And Mark Moulton rounded out the honorees with the foundation's Volunteer of the Year Award.
