WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Mount Greylock Quiz Bowl team continued its impressive run in the 2011 "As Schools Match Wits" tournament by posting an easy victory over established power Minnechaug Regional High School on May 28.

The No. 2 seeded Mounties advance to the finals and will take on favorite Westfield High  School, a surprise winner over defending state champion Longmeadow, at Westfield State University on Saturday night.

The Mounties will be playing for their first Collamore Cup since their return to the competition in 2007. Many years ago, history teacher Martha Dailey would take the Mounties to Springfield to participate in "As Schools Match Wits," but interest in the competition waned upon Dailey's retirement.

"I think our team is really finding its rhythm," said team general manager Blair Dils, "and our quick start in the opening round of toss-up questions once again propelled us to victory."

Ned Kleiner proved himself the workhorse of the team as he racked up many correct answers in the toss-up round. Cate Costley, Josh Harrington, and DJ Ross all contributed timely answers to thwart a pesky and frustrated Minnechaug team.

This is the 50th season of the high school quiz show, which is produced at Westfield State. The final will air on WGBY, Channel 57, on Saturday, June 4, at 7 p.m.
