Gilbane Building Co. donated more than 130 pounds of canned and dry foods for Boxcar Media's annual food drive.
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Our annual holiday food drive at iBerkshires.com and RacingJunk.com collected a total of 613 pounds for the Salvation Army.

That's more than 100 pounds over this year's goal of 500.

We want to thank everyone who donated, with a special thank you to Gilbane Building Co., which is busy reconstructing Hoosac Valley High School in Cheshire. The Gilbane crew dropped off 130 pounds of canned and dry foods at our Main Street offices on Friday.

"The foreman couldn't thank us enough for having this food drive," said campaign coordinator Tiffany Williamson. "They made it part of their holiday charitable contribution to our area."

Northern Berkshire United Cerebral Palsy came in with a 30-pound donation, and more last-minute donations were made over the weekend bringing the total up to 613 pounds.

The food will be distributed to needy families and local food pantries by the North Adams Salvation Army, which had to make two trips to pick it all up.

A big thank you to the Boxcar Media family and all those who donated. You've helped ensure that those in need will not be without this holiday season.
