BRUNSWICK, Maine. — In similar fashion to Friday's game, Bowdoin College came up with three late tallies on Saturday to propel them to their second straight victory over Williams College in two days.

Despite holding the Bowdoin offense scoreless throughout the first two frames, the Ephs could not keep up with the opposing offensive tirade in the final minutes.

Although neither team was able to find the back of the net in the opening 54 minutes of the contest, Bowdoin established offensive dominance, recording 20 shots to the Ephs 12 after two periods of play.

A flurry of Williams penalties in the opening frame gave Bowdoin many looks, but Chloe Billadeau and the Eph defense kept the home team at bay. It was Williams who saw glimpses of hope after the first intermission, with two man-up opportunities. However, the Ephs were unable to capitalize in the second period, leaving the contest deadlocked at 0. Williams would go 0-3 for the night on the powerplay.

Entering the final frame, both defenses refused to budge, and it looked like the third period would end in similar manner to the first two. It was not until the 14:07 mark when the Polar Bears were able to break the 0-0 tie. Using a 6-on- 5 advantage coming from an Eph penalty, Bowdoin got on the board with a one- timer from Kayte Holtz. Holtz's tally came from teammates Kim Tess-Wanat and Kendra Sweet.

Holtz's goal shifted the momentum in Bowdoin's direction, and their offense proved to be unstoppable in the remaining minutes. Once finding their offensive groove, the Polar Bears continued to challenge Billadeau, keeping the first-year netminder under seige. Bowdoin struck again, just over a minute following Holtz's goal, their second tally coming from Mallory Andrews. Andrews was fed by Stephanie Ludy and Kenzie Novak.

Bowdoin kept the pressure on, and extended their lead to three with two minutes remaining in the final frame. Chelsea MacNeil's powerplay goal at the 18:00 mark was aided by Holtz and Tess-Wanat. Bowdoin's lead proved to be too insurmountable for a comeback, leaving the score finalized at 3-0.

Billadeau recorded 30 saves, while turned away 15 bids in the shutout.

Next up for Williams is conference rival Amherst College. The puck drops Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. in the Lansing Chapman Rink.

Companion Corner: Lucy at Second Chance Animal Shelter

By Breanna SteeleiBerkshires Staff

ARLINGTON, Vt. — There is an excited and energetic pup looking for her new family.

iBerkshire's Companion Corner is a weekly series spotlighting an animal in our local shelters that is ready to find a home.

Lucy is an 18-month-old heeler/terrier mix with energy to spare. She has been at the Second Chance Animal Shelter for about a month.

Lead canine care technician Alaura Lasher introduced us to her.

"She is a very energetic girl. She loves to play, and as you can see, she came to us from animal control," she said.

Lucy was not in a great situation before coming to the shelter and they are still trying to learn more about her.

"They had seized her from a pretty neglectful situation. She was actually technically abandoned. She just came to us this last month, so she's still showing us all of her energy she has," Lasher said.

Lucy is able to go home with a dog-savvy cat and older children as she can be a bit jumpy with her bounds of energy.

"The perfect home for her is one that is able to give her a ton of attention and a ton of time playing, she loves her time outside," said Lasher. "She can run forever and not get tired. She can possibly live with another dog who is used to more of a pushy play style. She can be a little pushy when she plays, just because she's so hyper."

Since she is young, she is still learning and training with the staff and might need more with someone who takes her home.

"To the best of our knowledge, she's just a healthy young girl, because she's only a year and a half old, she still got a little bit of learning and training that she could use."

But Lucy is always happy to see anyone and immediately wants to play and say hi. Her endless energy makes her a great companion to play outside with and then hang out after a long day of fun.

"She's just a super sweet girl again. She'll need some help with the training, but as long as you've got time to burn out her energy, she'll make a great family dog," she said.

If you think Lucy might be the girl for you, reach out to Second Chance Animal Shelter and learn more about her on their website.
