NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The City Council on Tuesday will take up a number of appointments and old business, including making a section of West Main St. a no-parking zone.

In new business, the council will be asked to approve a retroactive contract with the police union that includes a 0 percent increase for 2011 and a 2 percent increase beginning Jan. 1, 2012. The wage increase is expected to cost $28,000 for this fiscal year and will be covered by the reserve account.
