"100 hours in the Woodshed" returns to MCLA Gallery 51! Masterminded by collage artist Daniel O'Connor, the fourth edition of this unique biennial event begins January 24, 2013 with a "Meet the Artists" reception from 5 to 7 pm. at MCLA Gallery 51. During the five days that follow, the galleries will be a flurry of collage of every sort: from paper and glue, to film and sound, if it can be cut apart, appropriated, moved around, and pieced together into a new form, it's bound to be happening in the "woodshed". Visitors are encouraged to stop by and watch the work in progress from 10am-6pm Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

North Adams Green Drinks is a very informal gathering, open to everyone with an environmental interest. The drinks aren't green, but our conversations are. Every month, on the second Wednesday, the group gathers for "Green Drinks" at the Freight Yard Pub in the Western Gateway Heritage Park for casual gathering of environmentally inclined folk talking about anything from wildlife crossings to recycling, wetlands to weatherizing. At about 6:30pm Richard Doucette and Felipe Aedo will report on their bacterial pollution study of the Hoosic River. Music will include compositions by Kreisler, Elgar, Mozart, Schubert, Amy Beach, and others. This spectacular concert is free, but all donations will support All Saints' Episcopal Church, as well as the performers.

WinterFest Ice Sculpting
Deadline February 9, 2013

The Office of Tourism & Community Events is looking for North Adamsbusinesses to sponsor blocks of ice to be sculpted on Main Street during our annual WinterFest on February 23rd. The cost of a block of ice is $75. Businesses are invited to sponsor a block of ice, but anyone who is interested can sculpt. If you would be interested in sculpting but aren't able to pay the $75 fee, we may be able to place you with a business in need of an ice sculptor. Thedeadline for signing up for a block of ice is February 9th. If interested contact Veronica Bosley at (413)664-6180 or tourism@northadams-ma.gov.

WinterFest Volunteers Needed!

The Office of Tourism & Community Events is in need of volunteers to lend a hand during our annual WinterFest, happening February 23rd in downtown North Adams. Volunteers are primarily needed for set up and staffing of the ChowderFest Competition. We will have shifts from 11-1, and 1-3. We will also need a few volunteers throughout the day, anytime between 8am and 5pm. If interested contact Veronica Bosley at (413)664-6180 or tourism@northadams-ma.gov.
