The Lady Canes at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

CHESHIRE, Mass. — The Hoosac Valley High School's girls basketball team had a 1-1 record in their first time at a national high school tourney at Disney World's ESPN Wide World of Sports.

The Hurricanes left for Florida the day after Christmas, on a Thursday. A flight delay shifted their schedule and they took on a team from Merritt Island, Fla., on Friday afternoon, winning 70-22.

The next game against Austintown-Fitch of Youngstown, Ohio, a D-1 school, was tougher, but the Hurricanes scored a respectable 40 to Austintown's 53.

The KSA Events Holiday Tournament is an annual invitational event that brings boys and girls high school sports teams from around the country to compete.
