The Adams Free Library is hosting its annual book sale through Wednesday.

ADAMS, Mass. — The Adams Free Library is holding its annual book sale Monday through Wednesday.

Friends of the Adams Free Library lined up shelves in the lower annex with out-of -circulation and donated books in hope of giving them new homes and supporting the library.

Friends of the Adams Library member Meagheanne Donahue said all proceeds from the sale go back into the library.

"In a way it's kind of sad because I hate to see the books go, but I think even the library is huge part of the town it needs to be a little self-sufficient," Donahue said. "It works really well; we do really well in sales."

She said last year they installed a drop box outside of the library and look to use the money to improve the library in any possible way.

"It goes to helping the library in any way that we can," Donahue said.

Another Friend of the Library, Ruby Koczela, said they have donated items children can use in the past.

"In the children’s library we got an oversized stuff chair so a mother can sit with her child and read," Koczela said. "We got a story telling rug and we made a donation to the Adams playground so we have been pretty busy."

The collection of books has a little bit of everything from fiction to stamp collecting books that Donahue said are particularly fast sellers. She said if anyone is looking for a particular author they better hurry because books are sold quickly.

"People come in looking for big authors or they come in looking for certain authors," Donahue said. "They go pretty quickly."

Koczela said the sale used to last a week, but the Friends felt this was too much and decided to limit the sale to three days. Nonetheless, she said the opening day of the sale was busy.

"This morning I think it was quite busy, and they keep coming back off and on," Koczela said.

Along with the books, there is also a bake sale and a raffle. Donahue said people can win things such as a kindle, a wine basket, books, and book related items. The raffle will be drawn Aug. 20.

She aid people can also purchase Adams Free Library shirts.

People can shop at the book sale Tuesday from 12 to 7 and Wednesday 10 to 5.
