Williams Men's Lacrosse Team Defeats Union

BOCA RATON, Fla. – In a penalty-filled and goal-filled contest between two unbeaten teams, the Williams College men's lacrosse team improved to 7-0 with a 16-10 win over Union on Tuesday.
 
Both teams entered the game 6-0 and Union was ranked third nationally and Williams was ranked 10th nationally. On the day the Ephs out scored the Dutchmen in all four quarters.
 
Steven Kiesel scored five goals, and Bryson Gilbert-Bono had a hat trick for the Ephs.
 
Dan Whittam stopped 14 shots in the victory.
 
Williams travels to face Tufts on Tuesday. The Jumbos are the defending national champions and ranked No. 1 this season.
 
MEN'S TENNIS
AZUSA, Calif. -- Azusa Pacific defeated the Williams College men's tennis team, 5-4, on Tuesday.
 
Williamstown's Rohan Shastri teamed with Jose Raventos for an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles for one of Williams' points.
 
Williams is 0-2 this spring and goes for its first win of 2015 on Wednesday at Pomona-Pitzer.
 
WOMEN'S TENNIS
LEXINGTON, Va. - The Williams College women's tennis team (4-0) continued to play well in their first match of a six-match road trip in Virginia, defeating Washington & Lee (9-3) 8-1, on Tuesday.
 
The Ephs took two out of three doubles matches on Tuesday, powerd by freshman Juli Raventos and sophomore Linda Shin, 8-6, followed by senior Rebecca Curran and junior Maya Hart, 9-8 (4). Curran and Hart battled all the way back from a 5-0 deficit to claim the victory.
 
The third-ranked Ephs play Division I James Madison on Wednesday.

Senior Golf Series Returns in September

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Berkshire County Fall Senior Golf series returns in September with events on five consecutive Wednesdays starting Sept. 18.
 
It is the 22nd year of the series, which is a fund-raiser for junior golf in the county, and it is open to players aged 50 and up.
 
The series will feature two divisions for each event based on the combined ages of the playing partners.
 
Golfers play from the white tees (or equivalent) with participants 70 and over or who have a handicap of more than 9 able to play from the forward tees.
 
Gross and net prices will be available in each division.
 
The cost is $55 per event and includes a round of golf, food and prizes. Carts are available for an additional fee.
 
Golfers should call the pro shop at the course for that week's event no sooner than two weeks before the event to register.
