Lenox High Names Top Students for 2015

LENOX, Mass. — Charlotte Cahillane and Kamaree Saldo have been named valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, of the 2015 class of Lenox Memorial High School.

Both will speak at graduation exercises on Sunday, June 14, at 1 p.m. at Tanglewood.

Cahillane is the daughter of James and JoAnn Cahillane. She is vice president of her class and is active in the school's Evergreen Club. As a member of the Quiz Team, she has been on television for "As Schools Match Wits."

An active member of the National Honor Society, she has received academic awards in French, history, English, science, and Latin. She is a long standing peer tutor and peer mentor and was co-captain of the Lenox crew team for the past two years.

She has also participated avidly in all theatrical productions at the high school including this past year, when she played Sally Bowles in "Cabaret" and Ophelia in "Hamlet." She  has been a vocalist for many years and intends to continue with voice lessons and singing in college.

This past summer, Cahillane interned at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield and further kindled her love for medicine. She one day plans to receive her medical degree. She has also traveled to France for language and culture immersion and will continue to pursue intensive French studies in college. She hopes to return to France and other parts of Europe this fall before entering college.



Cahillane will be attending Middlebury College in Vermont, where she intends to follow her passions in pre-medical studies and French.

Saldo, daughter of Joseph and Lauretta Saldo of Pittsfield, is president of National Art Honor Society and secretary of National Honor Society. She received the Smith College Book Award, the Brown University Book Award and the Watson and Crick Excellence in Science Award. She is a peer mentor and peer tutor to underclassmen.

She also is very active in theater, participating in several Shakespeare performances, as well as high school musical performances. Most recently she played the role of young David Copperfield in a play written by herself and her classmates titled "Little Dickens." She is a member of the Robotics Club that earned the distinction of eastern regional champion. She is also co-captain of the Lenox crew team.  

Saldo is an integral member of the Quiz Team, the Evergreen Club, garden club, prom committee, student government club, French Cine Club and Yearbook Club. In her spare time, she volunteers at the Berkshire Humane Society.

She will be attending Bennington (Vt.) College to study art, design and architecture.

The weekend event is free for all shoppers on April 27 from 10 am to 4 pm and April 28 from 10 am to 2 pm.
