Shakespeare & Company Elects Barry Shapiro as Vice Chair

LENOX, Mass. — Barry R. Shapiro has been elected vice chair of Shakespeare & Company's Board of Trustees.

Shapiro has been a Shakespeare & Company Board Member since 2011 and has served on the Executive Committee for the past two years.
 
“I’ve enjoyed working with Barry as a member of our Executive Committee, and I welcome him assuming additional responsibilities as one of our two vice chairs,” said Board Chair Kenneth Werner.  "I’m looking forward to working together with Barry to build on what is proving to be a highly successful season as we move forward into next season.”
 


Shapiro retired at the end of 2014 as chair of the Corporate Practice Group at the law firm, Meyer, Suozzi, English and Klein, P.C. Deeply involved in community affairs, he serves as chairman of the Dr. Robert C. & Tina Sohn Foundation and as a director of The Viscardi Center, the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center, Project Native, the New Marlborough Cultural Council and public television station WNET, where he was a vice chairman from 2003 through 2006. He previously served as chairman of public television station WLIW21, the Long Island Philharmonic and the New York College for Wholistic Health, Education and Research.

He is a graduate of Columbia University School of Law and Hofstra University and resides in New Marlborough, where he was recently elected town moderator and serves as a journalist for the town paper, the Five Village News.

BerkChique! at Ventfort Hall

LENOX, Mass. — Ventfort Hall will host BerkChique! from Friday April 26 through Sunday April 28.
 
The weekend pop up sale will benifit Ventfort Hall Mansion & Gilded Age Museum, with additional donations going to the Berkshire Humane Society, Community Access to the Arts (CATA), WAM Theatre, and Berkshire Art Center.

Those holding $100 VIP tickets get "first dibs" at the racks from 5:30-8:30pm. From 6:30-8:30pm, $25 ticket holders can join. The Friday First Dibs Shopping Party features catered hors d'oeuvres and refreshments compliments of Berkshire Palate, wine courtesy of Domaney's, and shopping bags from Blue Q,.
 
The weekend event is free for all shoppers on April 27 from 10 am to 4 pm and April 28 from 10 am to 2 pm.
