Stamford Students Collect Donations for Friendship Center

Print Story | Email Story

STAMFORD, Vt. — 'Tis the season of giving, and that is exactly what the students at Stamford Elementary School had in mind.

Pantry food drive coordinator Mary Tierney challenged the students at the the school to bring in cans and dry goods for the food drive for the Friendship Center, located in North Adams, Mass. This way the goods would be donated in time for the holidays.  The classroom with the highest amount of donations per capita would receive a special prize from Principal Gregory Betti.  If the entire school brought in 300 units for donation, Betti promised an additional all-school prize.

Kindergarten students brought in the most cans, led by kindergarten teacher Amy Maselli (pictured in the accompanying photo with students Fiona Blake, Sean Kurek, Chloe Bigelow, Logan Lefevre and Samuel Ryan as well as some of the cans and dry goods raised by the event).

The school also met the goal of collecting more than 300 donations.
