CT Plunkett Repairs Underway; School Will Be Open Friday
ADAMS, Mass. — Although a malfunction in a bathroom at C.T. Plunkett led to severe flooding in the building, administration anticipates all repairs will be completed before school tomorrow.
Adams-Cheshire Regional School District Superintendent Kristen Gordon said a part in the second-floor boys bathroom blew out shortly before dismissal Thursday afternoon.
"The water was unbelievable," Gordon said. "It was just a steady stream of water so the second floor was completely flooded. It went down to the first floor, which is a mess."
Gordon said a plumber arrived shortly after the blow out and turned off the water main to stop the flooding. The Fire Department and an electrician were also on scene to shut off power and make sure there was no chance of an electrical fire.
Parents received a call from the school informing them of the flooding around 2:30, however Gordon said everything should be cleaned up and ready for the school day tomorrow.
"We have about six or seven of our guys working on it, and we have a plumber coming to replace that plug," she said. "The electrician should be there by now so we should be up and running by tomorrow."
